Pietta – manufacturer overview

Pietta is a family owned gun maker in Brescia, Italy.  They have supplied American retailers with replica firearms since the 1960’s

Pietta started making a Colt 1873 replica in the middle 1990’s.  Their 1873 revolver may have been largely the old Jager Dakota design at first, as tooling for several of Jager’s other models passed to Pietta when Jager went defunct.

In any event, it is observed that the Pietta sixgun transitioned from use of metric screws and measurements  to one of Colt SAA dimensions by the early 2000’s.  It was then picked up by EMF for marketing as their Great Western II.  It has since been marketed by several American retailers.
