Texican – STI

STI is a premier maker of 1911 platform handguns based in Texas.

In 2008 STI briefly marketed the Texican, which was to be a very high end 1873 replica that would compete with USFA and Colt itself.

Manufacture of the Texican was actually sourced to Hartford Armory in Connecticut.  Hartford Armory was an electron discharge machiner of fine tolerance components, and they had briefly marketed their own clone, that of an 1875 Remington.  The Texican’s finish work was done by Doug Turnbull in New York.  Texican MSRP was north of $1500.

68 Texican’s is apparently the number built before STI discontinued the model.
